What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for reducing stress and tension and may promote the natural ability of the body to heal. Reiki was developed in 1922 by Mikao Usui. It was brought to the West by one of Master Usui's students, Hawayo Takata, in 1937.
"Rei" means universal and "Ki" means life force energy. "Reiki" is universal life force energy. Reiki cannot cause harm, will not violate free will, is gentle, painless, and peaceful.
What is Animal Reiki?
Animal Reiki, as developed and taught by the ICRT, has a uniquely different frequency than Reiki for humans though it is compatible with all lineages of Reiki.
Animals lead their session and may move about freely during it.
Animal Reiki has benefits for both animals and humans.
Benefits of Animal Reiki
Physically it may help to reduce stress, improve recovery from injury, improve recovery from surgery, reduce inflammation, manage symptoms or side effects from illness or ailments, and assist with physical comfort in aging, ill or injured animals.
Emotionally it may assist with behavioral problems, animal compassion fatigue, issues resulting from abuse or mistreatment, and support veterinary care.
Spiritually it may increase peace, increase vitality, renew the animals sense of purpose, assist with end of life support, and assist with compassionate euthanasia.
Services Provided
Animal Reiki sessions may vary in time, based on each animals needs. Due to this, payments are per session with additional charges if travel is needed.
Both the animal and their caregiver may receive Reiki during the session if it is in the animals best interest.
Each session (roughly 1 hour) includes a consultation with caregiver prior to working with the animal and followup after, by phone if session is distance and in person if session is in person.
Sessions may be in person or through distance techniques, based on the preference and location of the animal and their caregiver.
